The solenoid valve in the engine system is a key executing component controlled by the ECU (Engine Control Unit). Different types of solenoid valves have clear division of labor and play a role in multiple core links such as fuel recovery, valve regulation, lubrication protection, etc., jointly ensuring the efficient and stable operation of the engine. The following are common types and their specific functions:
1. Carbon canister solenoid valve: This is a common solenoid valve in engines. The gasoline in the car's fuel tank will continuously evaporate and produce steam. If directly discharged, it will cause fuel waste and environmental pollution. The solenoid valve can be opened at the appropriate time to introduce the gasoline vapor adsorbed in the carbon canister into the intake manifold, allowing it to participate in engine combustion. This not only recovers fuel to improve fuel efficiency, but also avoids steam pollution of the air.
2. Camshaft adjustment solenoid valve: It adjusts the phase of the camshaft by correctly controlling the oil pressure. The engine has different requirements for intake and exhaust efficiency under different speed conditions. This solenoid valve allows the camshaft to adjust its working state in a timely manner, thereby optimizing the opening and closing time of the intake and exhaust valves, allowing the engine to maintain good combustion efficiency in both high and low speed ranges, improving power output and smooth operation.
3. Oil pressure solenoid valve: The lubrication of various moving parts of the engine relies on oil, and the oil pressure needs to be adapted to different working conditions. This solenoid valve can adjust the oil pressure correctly according to the actual situation such as engine load and speed. For example, when the engine is running at high load, increase the oil pressure appropriately to enhance lubrication and avoid excessive wear of components; When idling, adjust to a suitable low pressure to ensure lubrication and reduce energy loss, thus extending the service life of the engine.
4. Turbocharging solenoid valve: In turbocharged engines, it is mainly responsible for controlling the boost pressure. When the turbocharger speed is too high, causing excessive internal pressure, the solenoid valve will promptly activate the pressure relief mechanism to release excess pressure and prevent damage to the turbocharger due to overpressure. At the same time, it can also adjust the amount of exhaust gas entering the turbocharger, ensuring that the turbocharger always works in good condition and helping small displacement engines output strong power.
5. Crankcase ventilation solenoid valve: During engine operation, some gas may leak into the crankcase, causing an increase in pressure inside the box, which may affect piston descent and damage engine sealing. When the pressure inside the crankcase reaches the preset value, the solenoid valve will automatically open, guiding the gas inside the box into the intake duct and allowing it to re-enter the engine for combustion. This not only maintains the pressure balance in the crankcase, but also achieves environmentally friendly treatment of the gas.
6. Idle control solenoid valve: When the vehicle is waiting at a red light or other idle scenarios, the ECU can adjust the opening of the solenoid valve to control the amount of air entering the engine, thereby correctly stabilizing the idle speed. If it is not regulated, the idle speed is prone to fluctuations, which may cause engine shaking, increased fuel consumption, and other problems. It can ensure smooth operation of the engine during idle, while reducing fuel consumption and harmful gas emissions during the idle phase.
